WRG 2012 Mock Draft - #29 Chicago Bulls

One way or another we need to address our need for a point guard, since Derrick Rose will miss significant time after tearing his ACL. We aren't thrilled with our options of finding someone to handle one of the Eastern Conference's best teams with the 29th pick, and Coach Thibodeau is known to bring rookies along slowly.

Another need is someone who can create scoring off the wing, but we think that last year's first round pick, Jimmy Butler, will fill that role in his second year.

Instead of going the point guard route, we see a guy who can handle the ball, is a veteran, and will fit into a competitive role on our team.

With the 29th pick, the Chicago Bulls select Draymond Green, F, Michigan State

This is what a mature player looks like.

Draymond Green is a do-it-all forward who can play point forward, helping to alleviate our need for a point guard. He's a heady, mature player who we feel can give us significant minutes immediately, instead of us drafting someone with flaws who will never play under Coach Thibodeau.

WRG 2011 Mock Draft - #29 San Antonio Spurs

Here we are again, stuck at the bottom of the first round.  Nothing new.

However, we have done as good a job as anyone finding rotation players outside of the lottery.

Since we are to the point where we not only want to limit Tim Duncan's minutes, but also give him games off from time-to-time - we have an eye towards the frontcourt for this pick.

We like a first team All-American with legit size who can shoot, score and block shots and should fit our offense very well.  He also is mature enough to play right away and has a frame we think has room to get bigger and stronger.

So we'll take JaJuan Johnson and plug him into the lineup where he will do whatever we need with little to no effort.  Ho hum.  We're the Spurs.

WRG Mock Draft 2010 - #29 Orlando Magic

We know we aren't going to draft a starter at this pick since it's the end of the first round and we are a title contender. Since both of our backup point guards are free agents (Anthony Johnson & Jason Williams), we could use someone there. We could also use a play-making wing, which we missed big time by Hedo Turkoglu's departure. We could even use a big man who can score with his back to the basket (hopefully that lights a fire under Dwights ass!).

There are a couple guys we like that fit into these categories. Darington Hobson is a very nice playmaker on the wing. He's a do-it-all forward and can give us the same type of player that Hedo was, although not on his level...yet. But we aren't taking Mr. Hobson. We are going for a big point guard to backup up little Jameer Nelson.

It's not a deep point guard draft, but one player is still there that we like, and can help us immediately: Mikhail Torrance. He adds size to the backcourt (6-5), a solid backup point guard and can contribute immediately since he stayed in college all four years.
