WRG 2012 Mock Draft - #15 Philadelphia 76ers

We have a long offseason ahead of us, and have many potential holes to fill.

Lou Williams officially opted out of his contract recently, so our top bench scorer is more than likely gone.

Our starting center, Spencer Hawes, is a free agent, and we'll probably let some other team overpay for him. After all our first round pick last year, Nikola Vucevic should slip right into his role, but we could still use some big man depth, especially if we amnesty Elton Brand, as many expect us to do.

We aren't really thrilled with any big man at this point in the draft, but there are a number of wing scorers left, and we certainly can use one.

Lou Williams, a high scoring combo guard off the bench leaves? How about we just bring in a high scoring combo guard who is accustomed to coming off the bench? AND he's a hometown kid to boot? Sign us up.

With the 15th pick, the 76ers select Dion Waiters.

WRG 2011 Mock Draft - #15 Indiana Pacers

First, let's get this out of the way.  We are taking you, Jimmer Fredette.  However, we have some conditions.

1. You are now from Indiana.  No one will ever question this.

2. You have to be our backup PG as well as a scorer off the bench.  You won't start, but you will get starter's minutes.  We would like you to win Rookie of the Year and Sixth Man of the Year.  Thank you.

3. Um.  This is delicate.  See, we saw you average 28.9 ppg and win the Naismith last season and we really don't want to change anything.  You know, anything. Soooooooooo. Yeah.  We'd like you to sign this - um - agreement.  You know.  Like they have at BYU.  So just go ahead and put your John Hancock by the "x" there, OK?  You'll almost be a lottery pick!

Honey, I've got something to tell you. Now keep in mind I'm probably only going to play 15 years or so and that shoooould just flyyyyyy by...

WRG 2010 Mock Draft - #15 Milwaukee Bucks

We hit a home run last year with Brandon Jennings. Go us!

Now we're getting greedy. We want another home run. We would have liked to draft a wing as insurance in case J Salmons leaves, and who knows if Michael Redd will give us anything, but the ones that we were targeting got snatched up ahead of us. We can definitely use some frontcourt depth, and there are some intriguing upside options out there for us to consider. We have our eye on a certain young big man who we can ease into the NBA by limiting his minutes to start his young career and let him develop behind Andrew Bogut. We're going for the home run. We want Hassan Whiteside.

We like that Hassan is athletic and can run with Brandon Jennings when he comes in the game. We like his immense defensive potential. We plan for Hassan to be a home run pick.

I bet those long arms could do a number on a cow's teat.

WRG Mock Draft, #15: Detroit Pistons

Our team is getting old. We have too many free agents. We have needs everywhere. We are truly in a position to go with the best player available.

We are going to throw a lot of money this offseason at Paul Millsap. With Jason Maxiell already on board, and the pursuit of Millsap set to begin, we don't have a need for anymore undersized power forwards. Sorry DeJuan Blair.

Allen Iverson and Rasheed Wallace are free agents. Antonio McDyess, as well. We have a lot of question marks. We are electing to go with the best available player approach, as we have needs bascially everywhere and need to inject our roster with youth. We want to get back to our championship style roots of a few years ago: players who play tough defense and give our team a defensive core for the future to fit in with Tayshaun Prince and Rodney Stuckey. Clearly one player fits this mold.

With the 15th pick, the Detroit Pistons select:

Gerald Henderson, SG, Duke


We look to the future with a perimeter trio of Tayshaun Prince, Rodney Stuckey, and Gerald Henderson. Henderson can come in immediately and give us solid minutes off the bench spelling our wing players. Richard Hamilton isn't getting younger, and to maximize his abilities, we need to decrease his minutes, and Henderson is quite capable of playing from day 1.
